Fintech” or financial technology, is the word given to describe the act of using the newest technology to deliver financial services And Bankstatements is right up there.

Bankstatements.com.au saw an opportunity, to make the process easy for the customer to send the finance company bank statements,  and to give the finance company confidence that what they were being sent was the right information.

When this first came out, we heard them all – “You mean I’m going to let some finance company access my bank account to get statements? stuff that! I’m not hand over my password!”. But nowadays most finance companies rely on this information as part of their assessment systems. 

Bank Statements / Illion Bank Statements is a market-leading finance technology company that have contracts with all the banks to provide a lighting fast, friction less web-based solution for the retrieval of your bank statement data.
It is a highly secure (bank grade) service and highly regulated by financial markets.
as an end user, all you do is:
  1. Put your full name in the Box
  2. Select your bank from the list
  3. Sign in like you normally do with your internet banking.
  4. Select the accounts you wish to send bank statements for
  5. Click Send.

…and that’s it! that’s all you have to do.

about 10 seconds later we get an email with your bank statements on them.

You just need your bank user name and password.

Motorloans nor Bankstatements never stores your online banking credentials. If fact we never even see them. The Data you give is encrypted with bank level 256-bit encryption, secured by 2048-bit keys, which only your bank can use. The System is independently tested and audited by external security experts.

Security is our highest priority. All data sent to bankstaments.com.au server is encrypted with 256-bit encryption, secured by 2048-bit keys. This is the same level of encryption that the banks use. You can read more details about Bank Statement’s security measures.
We, nor Bank Statements sees the bank credentials you use on the form, as soon as you input them and send, they are sent to you bank, who in turns recognises you are using bankstatements.com.au, and then sends the statements directly to bankstatements.com.au, who in turn, send that copy immediately to us, then delete all communication for that transaction.
However, we completely understand if you aren’t comfortable doing it this way. You are more than welcome to do it the slower way, log into your banking app, download three months, somehow find them on your phone and send them to us, or just call the bank and have them email you a copy when they get around to it.
We understand this, most low level banking staff (call centre and help desks) don’t usually have any knowledge of how this system works.
Most of NZ banks are owned by Australia Banks, therefore the contracts and agreements are made at parent company level, the information doesn’t normally trickle all the way down to a young part time call centre staff member.
Most Brokers, finance companies, and non banks use this method now, and some as their preferred method, so its entirely up to you if you want to use this method or not.
